CNA0051 - The Legal Aspects of Negligence

Of the types of legal actions that are brought against healthcare professionals, negligence actions are by far the most prevalent. The last several decades have seen a dramatic increase in the number of lawsuits and claims made against healthcare personnel. Many of these suits have resulted in the awarding of large sums of money for damages. For that reason, it is important that healthcare professionals understand the legal aspects of liability, so that they can better protect themselves from claims of professional negligence. This program will define civil and criminal liability, describe the five factors that are required to create negligence, and suggest strategies to reduce negligence claims.
