Disinfection of the hands prior to any procedure performed in the OR is critical for all OR personnel. Hands are a major source of infection transmission, and the most common type of hospital-acquired infections occur in surgical wounds. Consistent use of an approved hand scrubbing technique increases the likelihood of breaking the chain of infection, and thus decreases the chance of operatively-acquired infections. This program is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge needed to perform proper hand scrubbing techniques. |
