The purpose of this module is to provide the nurse with an understanding of the indications, functions, and care of the patient with a temporary or permanent pacemaker, or an ICD. In addition, the ability to assess pacemaker malfunctions is a vital objective. The goal of this module is to introduce the nurse to pacemaker and ICD functionality, and to instruct in the proper assessment of the ECG strip as an indicator of the most clinically significant malfunctions and failures. |
