LTC0012 - Generations In The Workplace (NAB-NCERS Approval #: 112008-19974-1-SS)The workforce today is made up of several very diverse generations, each raised in a very different era and learning a different style of management and coming to the job with different expectations. Working together we have members of the Silent Generation, the Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Generation Next. This generational diversity has led to many challenges for the organization. Changes in attitudes and approaches to work and the organization can be seen in each of these generational cohorts. Understanding these differences is a necessity in attracting workers, training them, preventing conflict on the job and retaining them. Organizational leadership needs to become sensitive to the styles of communication, behavior, learning and management of each of these groups in the workplace. The purpose of this program is to provide nurses an understanding of the different generational cohorts in the workplace and how best to manage their different expectations and styles. |
