CNE0115 - Preventing Unsafe Wandering and ElopementWhile not all wandering is unsafe, caregivers in the long term care setting must understand that the potential for harm from a resident's wandering is ever present. These caregivers must maintain constant vigilance over their wards, taking every precaution to prevent unsafe wandering. Further, they must know what to do in case a resident wanders or elopes from the facility and what to do once the resident is found. This course provides learners with information they need to help them develop the skills necessary to prevent residents' unsafe wandering, and will learn what steps to take when a resident is missing and what to do once the resident is found. Topics also include assessment procedures and electronic methods of intervention. |
