HCCS HTML Courseware FAQ: Pop-Up Blocker (Training Has Been Launched In Another Window)
 
 There are many different pop-up blockers.  Below are instructions on how to disable some of the most common types of pop-up blockers and a listing with hyperlinks to disable over fifty others. If you are not sure what to do or if your computer system is locked down, contact your institution's help desk for assistance. Please Note:  HCCS does not support the running of courseware within the AOL or MSN browser and if you use AOL 9.0 Security Edition, click here.
If you try to launch the HCCS courseware and a window like the one to the right appears:

* Exit this window
* Disable your POP-UP BLOCKER1(s)
* Restart courseware



1. How do I disable the pop-up blocker?

Microsoft Windows XP
Service Pack 2


* Go To "Tools"
* Highlight "Pop-up Blocker"
* Left Click on "Turn off Pop-up Blocker"
* Close Browser Window
* Restart Courseware


   
Google Bar
 
* Single click using the left mouse button on "48 blocked."  (Please Note: This number will vary).

* The button on the toolbar should then say, "Site popups allowed"





Norton Internet Security 2003
 
* Left Click on "Ad Blocking"




* Left Click on the "Configure" Button


   
Remove the check mark from "Turn on Popup Window Blocking"

* Press "OK, Close Browser Window and Restart Courseware


   
Norton Internet Security 2005

 

 

  • Left Click on "Norton AntiSpam"
 
 
 

 

 

 

  • Left Click on "Detailed Status"

 

 

 

 

  • Press the "Turn Off" button.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Verify that Popup Blocking is turned "off".

AOL 9.0 Security Edition
If you try to launch the HCCS courseware and a window like the one to the right appears:

Exit the course

Disable your AOL POP-UP BLOCKER(see 2) and grant access via McAfee Personal Firewall Express(see 3)Minimize AOL
Launch Internet Explorer directly off of your desktop
Log back into the course directly from Internet Explorer and proceed


(2) AOL Pop-up Blocker
Single click using the left mouse button on "blocked 0." (Please Note: this number will vary)



The button on the toolbar should then say "allowed."





(3) McAfee Personal Firewall Express
Single click using the left mouse button on "Grant Outbound Access" to HCCS Courseware
